October is widely recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness month. The color pink is commonly used to help promote this awareness.
Sawyer's Martial Arts is once again asking students to help us "Fight Against" Breast Cancer this October. For $30 (suggested donation) you will receive a pink belt you can wear to class all month long. All proceeds from the sales will be donated to help aid in Breast Cancer Research.
Parents, friends, and businesses who also wish to help support our fundraiser are encouraged to do so as well. Non students who purchase a pink belt will also be eligible to attend all classes during October for free! Businesses who donate will receive a pink belt in recognition of their support.
Breast Cancer is a very serious diagnosis that affected approximately 232,000 women in 2013. Around 39,600 did not survive their battle. Almost everyone knows someone, or has personally dealt with it in some form.
Help join the fight against breast cancer with Sawyer's Martial Arts! To sign up, see Master Sawyer or Master Hinman.

On Friday, February 21, 2014, Sawyer's Martial Arts students Drew Bidmead and Josh Bishop traveled down to Waterbury where Grandmaster Cheezic held a Federation Black Belt test. The group was one of the smallest seen in some time, which meant added focus was placed on each student testing. We are proud to say that Mr. Bidmead and Mr. Bishop stood out and earned their first dan's with great skill and discipline. Congratulations to Black Belt numbers #2241 Drew Bidmead and #2242 Josh Bishop!

Each year, the Cheezic Tang Soo Do Federation holds an event to honor the Federation competitors who placed in 1st through 4th place in their divisions during the four Federation Challenge Tournaments held throughout the previous year. This year we will honor competitors of 2013, as well as Student of the Year Nominees, and other special awards including School of the Year. All Cheezic Tang Soo Do Federation members and their families and friends are invited to join us at this event. It will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2014 from 12-5pm at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington. A general invitation can be downloaded from the CheezicTSD website.
In addition to the awards presented at this annual Federation event, we present demonstrations and/or speakers in honor of a specific theme. This year's theme is Honoring our Heroes: A Military Tribute. We will honor our students and their relatives who serve or have served in the Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Navy, and Marines. Each Federation dojang is asked to send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with a list of students and their family members who serve or have served in the military. Please include their complete names and branches of service in which they served and forward that information as soon as possible so that we may properly prepare to honor them at this event. Dojangs are also asked to prepare a poster (30x40") with photos and information honoring the heroes of your schools. All of this information was previously sent to CTSD Dojang Instructors to pass along and discuss with your students. Please spread the word. We look forward to enjoying a beautiful venue, delicious food, entertainment and more with our entire Cheezic Tang Soo Do family.
