Master Sawyer, Julie Sawyer (Master Sawyer's wife), Master Kane, Master Johnson, competed in the Iron Horse 5k, 10k, 1/2 Marathon on Sunday, June 2nd.

This event is an anual charity run held in the scenic part of Simsbury, CT. Everyone who ran did a great job despite the higher tempuratures of the morning.

The event this year happened to fall on Master Johnson's 30th birthday - and also her first 1/2 marathon.

On Saturday, June 1st, 2013, Master Mark Sawyer, along with black belt student Jill Goldfarb, competed in the 2013 Excel Open in Terryville, CT. Ms. Goldfarb fought hard to win a fourth place finish in the 18-34 year old Women's Fighting division. Master Sawyer also fought through his division, taking first place, and continuing on to win the Grand Championship title for all of the Men's Fighting divisions. Congratulations to both of them!

This marks our largest belt grading to date! The focus and spirit demonstrated on the training floor was exceptional. We are very proud to so much support from our parents and students.

KAMP TANG SOO 2013 will be held on August 2, 3, 4, 2013 in Colebrook. Students, family and friends of Cheezic Tang Soo Do are invited to participate in a weekend of camping, martial arts seminars, fun, games and delicious food. A kamp flyer has been posted in the download section of the Federation website. For inspiration please view the photos from last year's kamp weekend.

There will be two categories of competition in the Iron Chef contest this year: main entree and dessert. You may compete in one or both of these categories. This year's special ingredient for the IRON CHEF ENTREE COMPETITION is BARBECUE. Send your names in as soon as possible to Grandmaster Cheezic to register for the competition!

This year's camp will also have two categories of competition for the Sunday morning Demonstration Competition: dojang group competition and individual breaking competition. So, get your schools and individuals ready for a great camping weekend experience!

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a dear friend of the Cheezic Tang Soo Do Federation. Grandmaster Aaron Banks, premier promoter of martial arts in the United States, has died at the age of 85.

He was best known for his annual event, "The Oriental World of Self-Defense", which the Cheezic Tang Soo Do Federation was planning to attend on June 1, 2013. If the event is still to be held, there is still a tentative plan on attending. Please let Grandmaster Cheezic know.

Grandmaster Cheezic conducted a Black Belt Graduation on April 26, 2013. Congratulations to the fifty two black belt candidates who graded. There were 32 new 1st Dans, 4 new 2nd Dans, and 16 new 3rd Dans welcomed into the Cheezic Tang Soo Do Federation inner circle. Amongst them was SMA student Jill Goldfarb.

Ms. Goldfarb performed exceptionally well. Her technique was crisp and her stances were solid. We are very proud to announce her as our newest Third Dan at Sawyer's Martial Arts! Be sure to congratulate her next time you see her.

Attention students, parents, friends and family! Sawyer's Martial Arts has scheduled it's next gup belt test for May 23, 2013 at 6PM.

That means our students have less than a month to tighten up those moves, polish up those forms and get ready to test for their next belt level!

There is a new location for the Cheezic Tang Soo Do Federation Challenge: Sparring & Weapons.

The upcoming CTSD tournament competition will be held at the United Athletic Center of Waterbury on Sunday, May 19, 2013.

The Center is a huge indoor sports facility with plenty of competition ring space, spectator and parking room.The Center is located at 28 Hamilton Park Road in Waterbury, CT. Directions can be found on the Center's website. We look forward to a great turnout from all Federation dojangs at this upcoming event.

The registration fee remains the same ($30 to compete, $5 for spectators). A registration form for this event is located online at CheezicTSD.com. You may print it out, complete it and bring it with you to the tournament or you may register onsite as usual. Registration begins at 8:30am, eliminations at 9:30am.
