With the close of the 2012 Cheezic Tang Soo Do competition season, competitors will soon be receiving invitations to the annual Federation awards banquet. This year, the banquet will be held on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at the Aqua-Turf Club in Plantsville, Connecticut at 12:00 p.m.

This year’s theme is “Breaking” highlighting the Kyuck Pa aspect of our Cheezic Tang Soo Do Karate curriculum. A self-esteem and confidence building practice, it is both a physical and mental discipline practiced by students of all ages.

Students from our Federation dojangs will demonstrate their breaking skills at this year’s event.

Students, Parents! If you haven't sign up for a Sawyer's Martial Arts (SMA) account yet, you're missing out

1) Access to videos of Forms and One Steps to help with practicing!

Not everyone has a computer right next to an open area to workout. So we've been updating all of our video content to work with mobile tablets, smart phones and of course laptops to help make practicing easier no matter where you you have room. We have more content planned as well!

2) Email notifications of announcements and storm closings.

We all know this wonderful New England weather can change almost by the minute, which can make winter storms hard to predict. Anytime we have to close the school due to an emergency, we send out an email to our SMA account members to let them know.

3) Online store for easy ordering.

Did you know we have an online store for SMA account holders? You can order sparring pads, uniforms (even ones trimmed and patched), and pay monthly tuition. (OK so you don't need an account for the last one!) Orders placed by students can even get free shipping on their order when shipped to the school.

4) Comment on and rate photos, news posts, events and more

Just about every page has a little comments field that you can use to share your opinion, ask a question, or interact with other users. You can even rate most photos and posts.

5) Dojang rules, curriculum and student articles and more

We have lots of great articles for SMA accounts only that include Dojang rules, Tang Soo Do Tenants, updated curriculum, practicing and tournament guides! We always working on more, so it's only getting better.

Ok so maybe that's not reason, but SMA accounts are free for students, parents, and all of our martial arts friends. (Only active students/parents will be able to view forms and one-step videos).

The division points have been tallied and the results are in for the 2012 Cheezic Tang Soo Do Federation Tournament Challenge. This year had one of our strongest showings of Sawyer's Martial Arts students. And they all performed remarkably! Every student who competed was able to secure a final rank in at least one of their divisions.

The Federation awards banquet is scheduled for February 2013. Master Hinman will have a sign up sheet at the dojang for students, parents, friends and family that are interested in attending and receiving honors for their hard work.

Great job to everyone who came and tested! Their family and friends were there in numbers watching and supporting them. Comments and praise were heard around the room for each student.

Due to the weather forecast for this week, we will be cancelling classes on Monday, October 29th. There will still be no classes on Halloween, October 31st.

The planned Halloween Class will be moved to Nov 1st from 6PM to 7:15PM pending weather and power.

We hope everyone stays safe, warm, dry, and with power.

Our fall belt test has been scheduled for Thursday, October 25th, 2012 at 6PM.

Students will be informed a head of time if they will be testing and our instructors will ready them accordingly to ensure they will succeed.

Happy Halloween!

Students bring a friend and wear your Halloween costumes to our Kids class for a fun class of kicks, punches, and a ghoulish surprise or two!

Class will start promptly at 6PM so try to come a few minutes early.

Please do not wear any costume items that might distract or cause safety issues. E.g. no capes or loose fitting full face masks.

Because Halloween falls on a Wednesday this year, there will be no kids or adult classes on October 31st.
