Master Sawyer was born in East Hartford, CT, moved to Canton as a child, and graduated Canton High School in 1980. Master Sawyer worked as an auto mechanic before he took a position at PMP Corp and has since become a department supervisor. Master Sawyer’s training in Tang Soo Do started in 1981. His passion for martial arts lead him to start teaching in 1987 through the town’s parks & rec program. In June of 1991 he opened his first school.

Awards: Member of the 1990 USA Karate team that competed in Russia. Ranked #1 in Black Belt Fighting by IPPONE in 2001 and 2004, Inducted into the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2003 as the Tang Soo Do instructor of the year, Inducted into the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2004 as the male fighter of the year, Inducted into the Action Martial Arts Magazine Hall of Honors in 2008 for outstanding Dedication to the Martial Arts. 5 time Ct Yankee National Black belt fighting Grand champion.

Interests: Master Sawyer enjoys dogs, sports (Football and MMA mostly), fitness, finding new challenges to keep life interesting, movies, and music. Master Sawyer loves spending the day at the beach, warm weather and strongly dislikes the winter!
